I arrived at 4:45 to get the course setup. I learned that duct tape doesn’t work well on frozen light poles, so I had to improvise a bit. Disco Ball showed up shortly after I did as I had reached out to him to borrow his lights. We went out to the field and setup that portion of the course together. Sparkler arrived shortly thereafter and got his EC run in after he saw Disco and I had everything covered for setup. Sheldon and Beatbox also arrived early to get coffee setup.

We had the Reindeer Games awards ceremony last night over Zoom to mark the completion of F3 Crossroads’ first region-wide event and it sparked a lot of different thoughts for me. To make it seasonal, I’ll put this in terms of the ghost of Den Mother’s F3 past, present, and future.
Past: I started at the Ridge in February thinking this was just a workout group. I got through the warm-up and I thought, man these workouts aren’t that tough. Then the actual beatdown started and I couldn’t keep up out of the gate. Six weeks later the pandemic hit, and all F3 AOs were closed. The Lincoln Games started shortly thereafter and that really ignited me.
Present: F3 Crossroads is only 6 months old and its growth continues. We are coming off Reindeer Games and it was an honor to lead one of the teams throughout the games. I can see we have a ton of PAX ignited the same way I was this Spring.
Future: I look around me here this morning and I see that each of you are a part of the future of F3, whether you know it or not. I am excited to see each of us makes ourselves better, each other better, and our community better. F3 is our conduit to make that happen.
As Backstage recently put it on an F3 podcast: “Initially, I thought I didn’t have time for F3, and then I realized I didn’t have time not to do F3.”
Naked Man Moleskin:
Today’s workout went better than I expected. The layout was spread out enough to have the PAX distanced, and the OYO, endless loop nature allowed everyone to push themselves at their own pace. I truly appreciate everyone that came out in the gloom today. Extra kudos to:
- Disco Ball for coming out early to help with setup and letting me borrow his lights,
- Sparkler for having my 6 (great job as always), and
- Sheldon and Beatbox for the refreshments
