Keeping all fitness levels in mind we set two separate goals for this morning. For those of us that call ourselves “runners”, our goal was a negative split. Running out to the original Colosseum location and trying to beat your time back. For those of us that came to a Run Club for the first time or have a hard time running, our goal was to finish. Run (any pace) out and back.

Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.
-C. S. Lewis-
We were not made to be ordinary men. If we were made to be ordinary, we would not feel so uncomfortable in our own skin. The fact that we get up early and push each other is the very example of what we’re made of. We were not meant to be average. We are being made into palaces, kingdoms, & great men. As 2020 comes to a close, we suit up to make 2021 the best year yet.
