The Thang – King of The Quarter Mile
Due to number of PAX out for Run Club, we broke into (2) Groups and divided Clydesdales evenly to ensure everyone had someone to compete against.  Each group will have their own start/finish line.  PAX will line up and race around 1/4 mile parking lot loop until they get back to their finish line.  Last PAX to cross finish line is eliminated and will enter the losers loop.
  • All PAX to SSH until the 6 from their heat is in
  • Winner of the heat will give 10 sec countdown and then next heat will begin.
  • Combine groups into a single main heat once total number of remaining PAX is 10 or less.
  • Rinse and repeat until there is only 1 PAX left.  They will be crowned King of The Quarter Mile.
Losers Loop
Once PAX is eliminated from the main event, they will enter Looser Loop.  PAX in this group will sprint long sides of parking lot and recover on short sides.  These PAX must stay on the outside of the lot and run in the opposite direction from main heats.  All PAX will eventually enter losers loop.  This will continue until MARY.
  • Captain Thor x5 (IC)
  • (3) Merkin Ring of Fire
  • Freddie Mercury x10 (IC)
  • Plank Hold (for about 2 seconds… Recover, Recover)

Pre-Blast Quote Shared: “Its not the distance you must conquer when you run, it is you

This struck a cord with me, as the message I heard was telling me to “Get out of the way!”  and “Stop setting barriers to your own success!”

Get up in the morning and plan to do EPIC shit and tell yourself you can and will do it!  Don’t get in the way of yourself.  What ever EPIC task you have set will be tough enough you don’t need to add self-doubt to the mix.  It won’t help.

Now the problem with setting these high goals, is that pushes us outside out comfort zones, and if we have the courage we follow, it can breed vulnerability, invite self-doubt.  Don’t listen.  Push through and find ways to make yourself accountable.

Be better, Get Better, and accomplish your EPIC SHIT!!!

Big thanks to Vern for having my six and to Disco Ball for Co-Qing.  Their help made this little plan I had to turn run club into a competition was greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

This morning the Clydesdale Club was strongly represented.  With 24 total PAX, about 9 of them would call themselves a Clydesdale.  Thank you all for making the commitment to do Run Club.  I know this isn’t easy and the though of doing Run Club is enough to keep most away.  I truly hope that today you are one step closer to conquering your reservations about run club and push yourselves to do a few a month.

As for the competition; THE WINNER IS….

1st Place = Disco Ball (Current King of the Quarter Mile)

2nd Place = Second City (Does this make him The Queen?!?!?)

3rd Place = Sparkler (Duke? Prince? Jester?)

I don’t know… Will have to work on 2nd and 3rd place titles for next time.  All I know is that we all pushed ourselves and had a blast doing it.

Merry Christmas Eve’s Eve
