Run Club! My favorite (eye roll). I signed up to Q this date because I was planning to run a timed mile for the PAX…and then Pawn Star decided to schedule TWO timed miles last week! So I went back to the drawing board to come up with something fun that was more than, “Welcome to run club…start running and meet back at the flags at 5:54am.” So here is what we came up with:
Good Mornings (10)
Tappy Taps (10)
Thang 1: Indian Run Tag
Mosey to Playa Del Vista Carmen and set up two lines, one line on the left side of the street and one line on the right side of the street. One person hangs back, about 5-10 yards behind the last people in line–this person is IT. Start moseying with the lead person in each line setting a slow pace. When the person who is IT yells, “GO!” the person at the rear of each line sprint to the front while the IT person tries to tag one of them. The lines keep moseying while the new IT person head to the rear. We circled the 0.25 mile loop three times and then moseyed back to The Ridge.
Thang 2: Flippy Cone
On the east side of the hill we formed two lines/teams. Starting at the bottom of the hill by the path, facing towards the hill–there were 10 cones about 3/4 up the hill. 5 of the cones were standing up and 5 were knocked down. We put 5:00 minutes on the timer–each team would send 4 PAX sprinting up the hill to the cones to any one cone. Team 1 was trying knock cones down, team 2 was trying to stand them up. After touching one cone, each PAX would return down the hill and tag the next person in line. So, 5 minutes of hill sprints. We had time for two rounds, 5 minutes each.
American Hammers (30)
Freddy Mercury’s (30)
Hold Plank until 6:00
CoT: Wear sunscreen.
Naked Man Moleskin: Probably too many people for Indian Run tag, but I still liked the concept. Regardless, it was a fun and different run club. Ended up with 2.8 miles covered, with a ton of sprints. About 5 people texted me after the workout saying they were smoked, so I guess it was a success!
