The BackBlast:

Intro:

I arrived at the Colosseum around 4:40. The temperature was a bit warmer than it has been recently, 10 degrees. The wind was minimal, so we were in good shape weather-wise all things considered. I asked the PAX to part in the north lot so that we could take advantage of the ice and snow free area that typically serves as the area we park in. I was able to setup cones at each of the 4 corners and both ends of “Coupon Pass” with just enough time to start the EC run with Sparkler, Foundation, Toby, Fish Sticks, and Bunker.

Warm-o-Rama:

  • Motivators from 7
  • Tappy Taps x 10
  • Arm Circles x 10
  • Abe Vigodas x 10
  • Fire Drill w/ 2 Merkins – PAX circle up and perform high knees; the lead PAX yells “Fire!” and all PAX drop, roll to the left, perform 2 merkins, roll to the right, perform 2 merkins, then back to high knees. Each PAX took a turn yelling “Fire!” for a total of 13 rounds.

The Thang

The north half of the lot was setup with 4 corners:

  • Corner 1: 7 Burpees
  • Corner 2: 14 Merkins
  • Corner 3: 21 Squats
  • Corner 4: 28 SSH

After completing the SSH at Corner 4, the PAX ran to “Coupon Pass” which was the area directly in front of the doors to the building. The entry and exit dues for Coupon Pass were 5 Thrusters. PAX performed 5 Thrusters to enter, moseyed with their coupon to the other end, and performed another 5 Thrusters to exit.

From there, the PAX ran to the west end of the south half lot and took the sidewalk along Renwick Rd. back towards Coupon Pass. The same entry and exit criteria for the Pass were in place, and then it was back to the 4 corners in the north half of the lot.

Mary

  • Captain Thors to 6×24
  • Big Boys x 15
  • Star gazers until 6:00 (~15 seconds)

COT:

Sunday is Valentine’s Day. A day to show our significant others that we appreciate them. Which I think is complete BS. We shouldn’t wait for Valentine’s Day, Sweetest Day, or any other “Hallmark Holidays” to let the ones we love know that is the case. I’m not saying to not recognize these holidays, but do not let those be the only days that you recognize the love of your life. I challenge you to pick a random date between Sunday and your significant other’s birthday or your anniversary. Circle that random date and make that a special day as well where you give them flowers, a card, and take them out or cook them a special dinner. They will appreciate that more than what we do Sunday. And show those that you love appreciation every day!

Naked Man Moleskin:

Using the southern half of the AO this morning worked out really well. The portion of the lot we typically utilize is still a sheet of ice and what I had planned for the day would not have been safe there.

I wasn’t sure how the Fire Drill would work as part of Warm-O-Rama, but it ended up being a nice way to get the blood flowing on a cold day. All the PAX ended up covered in salt, but it was a small price to pay for acceleration.

Sparkler’s Site Q game was spot on as usual. He did a great job keeping everyone safe, informing me of timing, and capturing the beatdown with pictures and videos.
