The BackBlast:

This morning was a typical March day in Chicagoland, 32 degrees with little wind.

Today I had the honor of Qing my third beatdown and was humbled to lead the (XX) PAX that joined me in the gloom.  I want to give a shoutout to my site Q Happy Camper for ensuring I kept the guys moving.   We played 3 innings and had to earn each run with sweat and teamwork.

Horace Mann - "Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity."

Neil deGrasse Tyson – “It is the knowledge I’m going to die that creates focus that I bring to being alive, the urgency of accomplishment, the need to express love.”

One year ago this week a coworker I have known for 10 years was killed in a snowmobile accident while on vacation.   He had a wonderful wife and two beautiful children.   I consider it a privilege to have worked with him  get to know him personally.   This tragedy really puts in perspective how fragile life is and how often we take it for granted.  All to often we presume there is always tomorrow, next week, next month or next year to accomplish what we want.  Do not wait!  Put effort in every day towards accomplishing them, tomorrow is not guaranteed.  Always strive to better yourself or better someone else.  You know the effort it will take to reach your personal goals and some larger goals will need to be tackled in smaller pieces, then take it on one piece at a time.  To improve someone else it can take minimal effort.  Whether is it volunteering your time, donating to a food pantry or reaching out to someone you know is struggling, take that step!  Every effort regardless of how minimal will contribute to the betterment of your fellow man.
