Legacy.  Yesterday I turned 43.  Many of you have read the book “Freed To Lead” where Dredd talks about life as a 2000 meter rowing event.  The first 21 years of your life running fast being told what to do, the second 21 years of your life mastering your craft & learning, then 43 a time in your life when things get hard b/c the starting line is far away but the finish you still cannot see. Some people refer to this time period as the mid life crisis as well.  This past weekend I had the pleasure of getting to do a weekend trip with my wife to New Orleans. On one of the days we did the tour of the famous WWII museum. It was one of the more impactful museums I have ever had the honor of seeing. The stories on display of men who sacrificed everything for the freedoms we have today.  The leaders that inspired young men to accomplish the unthinkable. I was humbled as I walked out of there.

As I think about these next 500 meters I am about to row I find myself contemplating this concept of legacy. What do I want to be remembered for…what will be my legacy?  Where are you in your life journey?  How are you making an impact on those around you?  Since I joined F3 18 months ago I have felt a calling to my heart to do more, inspired to be invogarate other men but still feel like I am not doing enough.  This is a lot of rambling men to say take stock of where you are out in your 2000 meter journey. Are you sprinting the first 500 meters fast enough?  Are you learning enough in your 2nd 500 meters, are you establishing you legacy in your 3rd 500 meters? & how will you leave right in your final 500 meters?  Tomorrow is to close not to take stock now & be the best you can be.  I ask you today to set your next goals & pave the next 43 feet in front of you.  Aye!
