Intro:

Woke up super excited for my AOVQ at the Wood. Have been to a handful of beatdowns here but was worried that I did not have enough planned the night before. Ended up reaching out to a few PAXs to make sure I had enough planned and they ensured me that I was good to go. As always I woke up well before my 4:15 alarm and I was ready to go. Forgot about the extra time needed to get to the Wood for set up but still had plenty of time. Arrived around 4:55 to begin setting up at the Hill. Had lights and signs for Thang 1 at the bottom of the hill and then moved over to the parking lot to set up for Thang 2. Bunny Hill and 1040EZ were rolling up as I was finishing up at the hill.

The Thangs

Thang 1:Mosey to the bottom of the hill where I had 6 dice ready for the game of chance. Each PAX took a turn rolling a die to determine the exercise we would do( 1- Burpee, 2- Carolina Dry Dock, 3- Grady Corn, 4- Monkey Humpers, 5- Merkin, 6- Big Boys.  Then we would roll the remaining 5 dice to determine the number of reps. After completing the reps it was up the hill where we completed 10 air squats and then back to the bottom of the hill. We rinsed and repeated until each pax had a chance to roll once.   Needless to say we were lucky enough to avoid the Burpees but were punished with multiple rounds of Monkey Humpers.
Thang 2:Mosey to the parking lot where we did a partner dora. One parter started by running to the pavilion where they completed 20 step ups and 20 dips before running back to their partner at the other end of the lot. The other partner was working to complete 100 Overhead Press, 150 Curls, 200 Chest Press, and 250 LBCs. We ran out of time and only completed the chest press.

Circle of Trust (CoT)

Wanted to talk today about perseverance this morning and started with a quote from Pele’. ” Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” We have had success growing this region for the last year and I am proud to be a part of this group since October of 2020. As we begin year two we must learn from the past and make sacrifices to move forward. Each one of us needs to identify how we will measure our own success and find a way to persevere towards our own goals. We must also identify what we are willing to do for this group of men that we show up for each morning in the gloom. When we work together there is nothing that the men of Crossroads can not accomplish. We do not wake up for easy and I am preparing myself to do hard shit this year to make myself a better man and a better Pax of Crossroads. I ask that you join me on this journey as we kick off year two and lets kick some ass!

I have always loved visiting the Wood but was a bit intimidated to sign up as a Q here. The extra drive used to be an excuse for me to not post or to shy away from the Q as it was always easier to stay close to home.  Having been able to accomplish what I wanted to accomplish and push the 5 other pax that joined me this morning at the Wood was a great start to my week. I look forward to returning to the Wood and leading on Q in the near future. I forgot how much fun and suck that the hill could be! Congratulations to Burnt Ends for earning the right to carry the acceleration flag for the Wood as 1040EZ passed it along to him this morning. He has been killing it at the Wood, traveled up to the Colosseum last Friday and kicked ass at Convergence at the Ridge on Saturday. Way to accelerate!   Prayers for Sparklers family and his daughter Abby, Toby’s friend Darren, and Pi’s M
